 We've updated:

• Info for Riders - to bring things up to 2021 - no major changes, mainly adapting the services and ride details sections to the route changes.

• Route - Checkpoints and services added, minor route changes. A few checkpoints are different from previous editions of CHC.

We've set up ordering for High Country jerseys and vests! 

Something new this year: there will be two ordering deadlines. Order by May 31 and you should have your item(s) in advance of the event. So please considering making an early order.

Freeing Up Walden Rooms

Some riders have recently withdrawn from our event, and a couple of those had booked rooms at the North Park Inn in Walden (because they were on the book-your-own-room option).

If you do need to withdraw, and you have a room you can free up, please announce it on the Colorado High Country Google Group (as a rider did this morning!). 

If you are looking for a room to book, you may want to follow that Google Group.

We plan to free our extra event-reserved rooms sometime in June.

Louisville Transport and Lodging Update

We will be updating the 2016 Info for Riders, which has info on Louisville lodging and transport from Denver International Airport. In the meantime:

Transport from/to DIA

• We continue to recommend RTD-Denver's airport bus service (route AB). Fare is $10.50 one way and there is plenty of room for bike and other baggage. About ¼ mile travel to the Quality Inn, and under a mile to other hotels.

• There had been airport shuttle services such as SuperShuttle, but the landscape has changed. We will be looking into recommendations.

• There are of course ride-hailing providers such as Uber or car rental. It's about 33 miles from the airport to the start/finish area.

Lodging at Start/Finish in Louisville

• When we checked with our traditional host hotel, the Quality Inn - who have served us very well in the past - they weren't offering any discounts because of a special event that week. Checking just now, the rates are still higher there than nearby hotels ($199 in Google map below).

• For these reasons, we will probably not reserve a block of rooms as we have in the past for riders to book. But we will see if we can arrange space to store your bike boxes and baggage, as they have done in the past (while not requiring you to keep a room during the ride).

Confirmed and Waitlisted Riders

 We've now processed the first-day registrations (thanks, everyone!).

• There were 54 first-day registrants.
• Of these, 23 had been registrants when CHC'20 was cancelled, so they got confirmed spots.
• The remaining 31 were put in a lottery, to fill out the remaining confirmed spots (27) and start the waiting list (4).
• Riders registering after 2/15 got spots on the waiting list in order of registration.

Next steps:

• Flag riders' qualification status.
• Determine how many rooms to release at the North Park Inn for possible booking by those who'd like single occupancy.
